Cupcakes.

The simplest way to make cup cakes is to use an existing cake mix.

After all cup cakes are just small portions of normal cakes cooked individually in small paper or plastic cups.

In this lesson we are going to use standard cake mixes. One, an orange poppy seed flavor, and the other a standard chocolate flavor.

Using standard cake mixes that you can buy from any supermarket greatly speeds up the time to make cupcakes and it gives you the opportunity to combine different flavors at the same time very easily and quickly.

First let's make our orange poppy seed mix.

Start by pouring the contents of the cake mix into a large bowl.

Then it's just a matter of following the directions on the cake mix packet.

In this case we ad 170mls of water, then mix the mixture, either by hand or with an electric mix master - like we are doing here.

As for the cup cake holders you can either use paper or plastic. We are going to use plastic for after use they can be easily washed and used again, whereas paper holders can only be used once and then need to be thrown away.

Some cake mixes suggest to use an egg or even 2 but in this lesson we are only adding water which will leave the final texture slightly dense as opposed to using an egg which would leave the final texture more fluffy.

Next we just portion the mixture into the individual holders, allowing some room for the cupcake mixture to expand during baking.

Next we'll move on to our chocolate cake mix and repeat the process.

We start by emptying the contents of the cake mix into a large bowl.

We then ad 170mls of water.

For a bit of creative variation you could also ad milk instead of water changing the texture of  the cupcakes.

Then mix the contents thoroughly and just portion the mixture into the cup cake holders.

For something different in taste, consider combining different mixtures in the same cup cake holder. In this instance we are combining orange poppy seed flavor with chocolate.

After dispensing all the mixtures, place the individual cup cakes on a baking tray

Next place in the oven and bake at 180 degrees celsius for between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the type and strength of your oven.

Periodic testing will help you know when the cup cakes are ready. By sticking a thin skewer into the cakes, you can tell when they're ready when no mixture sticks to the skewer when you pull it out.

When the cupcakes are ready, take out of the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes on a cooling tray before eating.

Simple, fast, and a great snack for everyone to enjoy.
